Career Trajectory
Bio
Maritoni Litorja received the Ph.D. degree in physical/analytical chemistry from Northwestern University, IL, where her research focused on investigating the phenomenon of adsorbate Raman signal enhancement by small metal particles in ultrahigh vacuum.
She joined National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), MD, as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow in the Surface and Microanalysis Division, where she was involved in research on oxygen radicals on surfaces. She is currently a Research Chemist at the Optical Technology Division, NIST. Prior to NIST, she worked in industry as an analytical chemist and with the Molecular Dynamics group at Argonne National Laboratories studying radicals and other transients relevant to combustion and atmospheric chemistry. Her current research interests include 1) designing standard analytical chemistry methodology to validate in situ measurement methods applied to problems where separations chemistry is not possible, such as in in vivo spectroscopic imaging, and 2) application of photogrammetric techniques for image-based dimensional metrology.
