个人简介
The work of Dr. Mario Inclán is centred on the biomedical applications of supramolecular Chemistry. It has led to the publication of 26 scientific articles, plus 2 already submitted (H index = 10) and one patent. The relevance of his contributions is evidenced by the more than 317 citations received and the fact that most of them have been published in the top 25% (Q1) journals of their category. Moreover, his results have been presented in the form of oral communications in more than 16 international congresses, as well as posters and press releases in various media. Among his works as a first author, it is worth mentioning the one published in the prestigious JACS journal (Inclán, M., et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2012, 134, 9644) that has received more than 71 citations. In this ground-breaking paper, Dr. Inclán demonstrates, for the first time, how induced molecular reorganizations can be used to modulate the cytotoxicity of antitumour compounds. He is now trying to expand the application of these “synthetic allosteric systems” to the fight against antimicrobial resistant pathogens, a novel and original approach to this problematic, and a new line of research in his group.
As a postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Inclán was awarded in 2016 a Marie S. Curie fellowship at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Athens, Greece, in the framework of the ITN CyclonHit – “Nanocarriers for the delivery of antimicrobial agents to fight resistance mechanisms”. After a paternity leave, he was reincorporated to his Host Institution in 2018, within the framework of the «Atracción de Talento» program of the Campus of International Excellence (VLC-CAMPUS). In 2019 he was awarded a third postdoctoral fellowship from the Generalitat Valenciana (APOSTD2019) and has recently enjoyed a one-year postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. Pau Ballester (ICIQ, Tarragona). Dr. Inclán is now participating in national (MINECO) and European (COST Action NECTAR) projects and has built an extensive network of international scientific collaborations. His independence and leadership as a researcher are demonstrated by the recent publication of two articles as Corresponding Author (plus one submitted), including a 34 pages review on Fluorescent Chemosensors, and by the fact that he has opened a new research line at his host institution. Moreover, he has already received his accreditation as an Assistant Professor (ANECA) and complements his research activities by teaching undergraduate and Master level courses.
His research has a clear impact in society since most of his results have biomedical implications. As a co-inventor in a patent related to antiparasitic compounds for Tropical Neglected Diseases, Dr. Inclán is making great efforts to advance this technology by drafting proposal for its development (i.e. Proyectos I+D+i Pruebas de Concepto, Programa Valoriza y Transfiere, Proyectos de la Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación). This technology is expected to have a great positive impact in health-care systems, particularly for developing countries.
In 2020, Dr. Inclán was selected as an Expert Evaluator for the European Commission, assisting the Research Executive Agency (REA) in the evaluation of 5 proposals from the H2020-MSCA-IF-2020 call. Currently, Mario Inclán is a reviewer for the RSC (RSC Advances), Elsevier (Inorganica Chim. Acta) and MDPI (Molecules, Int. J. Mol. Sci., Materials) and has been a Guest Editor for MDPI-Appl. Sci. where heco-edited the Special Issue "Biomedical Applications of Supramolecular Chemistry".
Mario Inclán has contributed to the training of 15 young researchers, by supervising their Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis and participates in science diffusion events, such as the European Researchers’ Night and the Open-Science Day of his Institution. He was a member of the Local Organizing Committee of the International Conferences ISMEC22 that will took place in Valencia in 2022, and an Invited Keynote Lecturer in ISMEC23, in Urbino, Italy.
