Bio
Mariana M. Vale is professor of Ecology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (UFRJ). She has a PhD in Ecology from Duke University (USA), a MSc in Conservation Biology from Columbia University (USA), and a BSc.d in Biology from UFRJ. She a member of UN's Intergovernmental panels on Climate Change (IPCC) and on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), coordinator of RedeCLIMA's Biodiversity Subnet from the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology, and board member of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation of Biodiversity (INCT EECBio). Her research focus on conservation biogeography, especially on climate change, biodiversity and ecosystem services,and pandemic preventiion in the Tropics.
