Bio
Maria Stella Busana got her degree in Classical Studies from University of Padova in 1989, studying roman town-planning. She got her Specialization in Archaeology from University “La Sapienza” in Rome in 1993 on roman town-planning and architecture. She obtained PhD in Ancient Topography in 1996. She got a post-PhD scholarship from University of Ferrara (1999-2000) and the Research Felloship from University of Padova (2002-2004). Since 2005 she was an Assistant Professor and since 2017 she has been an Associate Professor in Classical Archaeology at Padua University. Since 2006 she has been teaching Roman Archaeology and she is a member of the Graduate School in History, Criticism and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. She has taken part in field excavations and survey in Northern Italy in quality of Director - in Montegrotto Terme (Padova), Altino (Venezia) and Montebelluna (Treviso) - investigating roman villas and production sites. She edited six volumes and published three monografies, several excavations reports, and about 120 papers on roman town-planning, landscape organization, handcraft and architecture in Roman period, above all rural settlements. Recently she is working on textile archaeology and on the application of virtual reconstruction and digital resources for the purpose of research and communication.
