Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences( Escola Paulista de Medicina - EPM), Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) in 1979, where completed Master (1982) and Doctorate (1984) in Pharmacology (respectively in Psychopharmacology and Psychobiology), as obtained full professor title ( 2001). Prorector of Post-Graduate Studies and Research of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo between September 2008 - March 2009 and February 2013-April 2017. Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Program in Psychobiology (highest level of classification by the Brazilian agency CAPES), between 1997 and 2007 and head of the Department of Psychobiology (2007-2013. Vice president of ISBRA (International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism - 2006-2010) and member of the temporary committee of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) which worked on the definition of Policies on Alcohol (2010). Worked as a consultant for SENAD (National Secretariat of Policies on Alcohol and other Drugs). She was assistant editor of the journal "Addiction" (2001-2019) and since 2021 is Associate Editor of the section Digital Mental Health in Frontiers in Digital Mental Health and Frontiers in Psychiatry, member of the Editorial Board of Addiction Science & Clinical Practice, referee of several national and international journals, member of the Research Society On Alcoholism (RSA) since 1999 and of the Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA -2000-2020) and member of the Fiscal Council of the Associação Fundo de Incentivo à Pesquisa (AFIP ). Elected co-president of INEBRIA (International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol & Other Drugs) for the period 09/2020-09/2022. Coordinates basic research in Neuropsychopharmacology, with emphasis on Neurobiology of Drug Abuse and clinical research on Brief Interventions and Digital Interventions. Supervised 43 monographs from graduation and specialization students, Masters (26) and PhD (21) theses, besides post-doctoral supervision (3). Participated in international multicenter projects developed by researchers supported by the Substance Abuse Department of WHO (World Health Organization), among which: a) the study of biological markers of alcoholism (being part of the WHO-ISBRA Biological Markers Group), b) the development, validation and testing of screening instruments of the use of alcohol and other drugs, as well as on the associated Brief Intervention (WHO-ASSIST) and c) the development of the Brazilian portal "Alcohol e-health" (in Brazil: www.informalcool.org.br), in partnership with researchers from the Brazilian Universities UFJF and UFPR and from 4 countries (Mexico, India ,Belarus and the Netherlands). In partnership with SENAD, conceived and co-ordinates two training courses by Distance Learning Education: a) SUPERA (System for detection of abuse of and dependence on psychoactive substance, brief intervention, referral, social reintegration and Monitoring) by which more than 135,000health professionals, from every Brazilian State, have already been trained and b) Faith in Prevention, by which 25,000 religious and community leaders were trained on the Prevention of Drug Use.
