Bio
My main research interest is the functional role of soil fauna in terrestrial ecosystems. In particular I try to quantify soil biodiversity changes and their potential implications for the C sink/source function. My research combines the use of stable isotopes (13C and 15N) at natural abundance levels as potential in situ tracers of the trophic structure of edaphic communities and their functional role in natural and agricultural systems. In addition, I am also taking advantage of developing radiocarbon (14C) technologies to investigate the interaction between soil fauna activities and the temperature sensitivity of soil organic matter decomposition in response to climate change.
