Bio
Maria Augusta Antunes concluded a BSc in Chemical Engineering, in 1989 and graduated in Chemical Engineering, in 2000, both from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL). She started her professional activity as Analytical Laboratory Assistant at the Centro de Caracterização de Combustíveis of Instituto Nacional de Engenharia e Tecnologia Industrial (INETI), having subsequently held positions in industry and teaching. In 2007, she completed a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa with a thesis entitled 'Synthesis and Reactivity of Uranium(III) Compounds Stabilized by Nitrogen Donor Ligands'. From 2007 to 2017, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Centro de Química Estrutural (up to 2011) and at the Solid State Group of the Centro de Ciências e Tecnologias Nucleares (2011 to 2017), both research units of Instituto Superior Técnico. The main focus of the research work comprehended the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of organometallic compounds. In 2017, she embraced a new professional challenge, moved to the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC), to join, as a postdoctoral fellow, the team that develops research projects in the area of azulejo heritage.
