Bio
Margarida was born in Guimarães, Portugal, in 1984.
She received an Integrated Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho in July 2007.
Margarida Machado hold the PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Univeristy of Minho in April 2013.
During her PhD studies, Margarida was a visiting scholar of Technical Institute of Lisbon, since September 2008 to February 2009, and University of Florida (Gainesville,FL), since June to December 2010.
At Technical Institute of Lisbon, Margarida worked under the supervision of Professor Jorge Ambrósio.
At University of Florida, Margarida was integrated in the scientific team of the Computational Biomechanics Lab, which is headed by Professor Benjamin Fregly.
The scientific work of Margarida has been already distinguished internationally twice. The first award entitled "Best Oral Presentation by a Young Researcher" was awarded by the Scientific Committee of the 7th EUROMECH Solid Mechanics Conference as recognition for the scientific contribution and excellence on its presentation.
The second award entitled "Best Student Paper Award" was assigned by the Scientific Committee of the ASME 2011 International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering Conference.
Since September 2013, Margarida Machado is a senior researcher and project manager at INEGI (Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management) in Porto (Portugal).
