个人简介
Marcelo Coertjens (MC) is currently Associate professor of the Physiotherapy Course and the Postgraduate Program in Biomedical Sciences at Universidade Federal do Delta do Parnaíba - UFDPar (campus located on the coast of Piauí in Parnaíba city which originated from the Universidade Federal do Piauí, Brazil).
He obtained a Bachelors in History (1998), Physical Education (2003) and Exercise Physiology (2004), MSc in Human Movement Sciences (2007) (advisor Prof. Luiz Fernando Martins Kruel) and PhD in Pneumological Sciences (2018) (advisor Prof. Leonardo Alexandre Peyré-Tartaruga) all at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS - Brazil).
Marcelo’s field of research is mainly energy expenditure and its implications on health and performance, with specific interest into respiratory physiology, locomotion energetics, physical training, comparative and environmental physiology. During his doctoral degree worked with Pulmonary Rehabilitation for COPD patients at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (Pneumology Service, HCPA, UFRGS) and Nordic Walking training for Parkinson's Disease patients and elderly. He is a member the LOCOMOTION Group: Mechanics and Energetics of Terrestrial Locomotion / UFRGS and of Research Group in Respiratory Pathophysiology (HCPA, UFRGS).
Currently, he works in four main lines of research: i) biomechanics and energetics aspects of locomotion under different constraints; ii) physio-mechanics of breathing; iii) pulmonary rehabilitation; iv) locomotor rehabilitation. His works topics are: cost of transport (economy), mechanical efficiency, energetic power, ventilatory efficiency, walking, running, jumping, pathological locomotion, locomotor training, locomotor rehabilitation and pulmonar rehabilitation.
He teaches Biochemistry, Human Physiology, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics (graduate), Physio-mechanics of Locomotion and Physio-mechanics of Respiration (postgraduate).
