Marc Emmelmann

Marc Emmelmann is a Senior Researcher at Fraunhofer FOKUS. He is currently the Research Lead Wireless Networks and 5G Testbeds and Infrastructures in the Software-Defined Networks Department at Fraunhofer FOKUS. As a freelance consultant representing various telecommunication industry players, he has a 20-year experience in bringing research and innovations into standards, particular in the area of next generation networks. Marc currently serves IEEE 802.11 as the Chair of the 802.11 Task Group for Enhanced Broadcast Services (TGbc). He served as the Co-Chair of the 802.11 Task Group for Fast Initial Link Set-Up (TGai) and as a Secretary for the 802.11 Task Group for Recommended Practice for Evaluation of 802.11 Wireless Performance (TGt). Marc Emmelmann graduated summa cum laude from Technical University Berlin holding a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering. He has published around 100 papers in conferences, journals, and standards; and edited books in his research field. His research resulted in 2 granted and 3 pending patents in the area of advanced fast network discovery and dynamic spectrum access. Marc is a member of IEEE and is a member of multiple IEEE societies: the Communications Society, the Computer Society, the Vehicular Technology Society, and the Signal Processing Society.
