Dr. María Teresa Sanz Diez received her degree in Food Science and Technology (being extraordinary award) from the University of Burgos and in Chemistry from UNED. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Burgos in 2002. From 2009 to 2018 she was Associate Professor (PTUN) in the Chemical Area Section of Biotechnology and Food Science Department and since 2018 she is Full Professor in the Chemical Area section. She is currently Board of the Faculty of Sciences.
Dr. María Teresa Sanz has carried out an important research activity. Her research activity is focus on reaction and separation process on chemical and food industry by using green and clean technologies. These innovative and emerging technologies include membrane technology and compressed fluid technology, mainly CO2 and water. She has applied these technologies to different applications in the food and chemical industry such as extraction, formulation, hybrid reactive-separation process, etc. Dr. María Teresa Sanz awarded a postdoctoral fellowship for two years at the University of Oldenburg (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. J. Gmehling. She is currently part of the research group Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology (BIOIND, www.ubu.es/bioind) recognized by the UBU in 2013. She is the director of the Consolidated Research Unit of Castilla y León (UIC 128) since 2021.
As a researcher, she has participated in 25 research projects funded by the national R + D + I Plan, the European Regional Development Fund, the FECyT and the JCyL, being in seven of them the main researcher. She has also participated in 20 contracts with different companies.
She has published over 94 indexed publications collected in Scopus, being 70 within the first quartile according to the Journal Citation Reports and 26 within the first decile, yielding an h index of 31. She has regularly presented the main results in specialized congresses and conferences.
In addition to her research activity, Dr. M. Teresa Sanz has developed her teaching activity in different degrees at the University of Burgos included Science and Food Technology, Chemistry and Agro-alimentary technical engineering, as well as in the Master Program in Food Safety and Biotechnology and Advanced Chemistry. She has directed 10 doctoral Thesis, all with top qualification (one with prizes from ISASF and FLUCOMP) and several Master Theses (18) and Final Degree Works (23) . She has also participated in two projects of teaching innovation.
