Afterwards, she worked in the framework of the ARFRISOL Research Project from October 2008 to February 2010 in users’ comfort control tasks. Subsequently, she obtained a PhD scholarship that allowed her to finish her PhD with international quality mention in 2013 (extraordinary doctorate award). Then, she enjoyed a Juan de la Cierva - Training grant at the Department of Systems Engineering and Automatics of the University of Seville. Subsequently, she held a position as Assistant Professor at the Department of Systems Engineering and Automatics of the University of Seville (Spain) until September 2018. She currently holds a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Almería.
Her main areas of interest are climate modelling, model-based predictive control, feedforward control, and hierarchical control, with applications to user comfort, energy efficient buildings and microgrids. As a result of her work in the aforementioned lines, she co-authored the book Comfort Control in Buildings (Springer, 2014). She has supervised 14 final diploma theses on these topics. She has published 19 papers in international journals (JCR), 24 papers in international congresses international conferences and 19 papers in national conferences. She has received 1 award at national level national level for the best paper in Control Engineering presented at the XXXII National Conference on Automatic Control and the first prize at international level for the best paper in the special session Control Techniques for Renewable Energy Micro-grids held within the framework of the 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. She has also participated in 11 research projects, 3 contracts with companies and 10 teaching innovation projects. She has carried out 3 international research stays at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil - 6 months), at the Automatic Control Laboratory of the ETH (Switzerland - 3 months) and at the University of Brescia (Italy - 2.43 months).
