Bio
Manuela Ferrario received her PhD degree in Bioengineering (2007) with a thesis on advanced methods and techniques for the antepartum diagnosis of fetal risk. Her post-doc fellowship, supported by Fresenius Medical Care, GmbH, was focused on the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) and biological cardiovascular signals in haemodialysis patients. She collaborates with the Renal Research Institute, New York City, USA and with the Hospital San Bortolo, Vicenza. She collaborates with Università Tor Vergata, Roma, on methods to identify perioperative cardiovascular and hemodynamic risk in patients under anesthesia and to monitor cardiovascular hemodynamics invasively/noninvasively during surgical intervention (principal investigator of the RU, project founded by grant FIRB 2010-2013). Her currently research focuses on affective computing in collaboration with San Raffaele Hospital and Università degli Studi di Milano (principal investigator of the RU, project founded by grant FIRB 2013-2016). She is leader of the activities relating hemodynamic monitoring (WP#7) and she is member of the scientific committee of the EU project “Shockomics: multiscale approach to the identification of molecular biomarkers in acute heart failure induced by shock” (2013-2017). Her research interests include mathematical modeling of physiological systems, model identification with applications to cardiovascular system, signal processing, non linear analysis, variability analysis of cardiovascular signals.
