BSc in Biology and PhD in Chemistry (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain). Since 2018, Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Food Science (USC). Coordinator of the Research Group GI-2085-USC (LIDSA: Laboratory for Research and Development of Analytical Solutions). My professional career includes in a balanced way activities framed in teaching, research and university management. I am supervisor of 9 PhD students (7 of them already defended), all with the maximum mark, and many of them with Extraordinary PhD Award, as well as Quality and/or European Doctorate. Also, I supervise 13 Master and > 40 Degree final Projects. Erasmus coordinator and tutor of the Leonardo da Vinci Programme. Tutoring and supervising Professional Training students of Chemical Family (FP Superior Degrees) since 2014. I have recognised 5 five-year teaching periods.
My research career is articulated in several lines of research that can be summarized in the development and application of sample preparation techniques based on Green Chemistry and the use of chromatographic analysis techniques, mainly HPLC-UV/FL, GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS. This approach is being applied in several sectors. Analysis of cosmetics (Product Safety and Regulation Compliance), natural products, wine and winemaking byproducts together with strategies for upgrading other natural byproducts (e.g: wood industry) are the current lines of research. Main analytes families are fragrance compounds (allergens and musks), preservatives and phthalates in cosmetics; and polyphenols, terpenoids and fatty acids in natural products.
I have participated in 32 competitive research projects (EU, National, and Autonomic) and in > 40 R&D contracts with public organizations as well as relevant companies. I have participated in national and international networks (WINETech, REGATA), highlighting the active participation in CRETUS (Cross-Research in Environmental Technologies), one of the Galician Strategic Groups since 2015. I have published more than 100 papers and I contributed with more than 140 presentations in international/national congresses, conferences and seminars; some of which were awarded.
Member of the Scientific Committee of Extech 2014 and 2017, COLACRO (2016), SECyTA (since 2015), Winery 2017 (Chile). Member of the Organizing Committee of Extech 2017 and Organizer of the Symposium for young scientists: "New Challenges in the Development and Application of Environmental Technologies”. Chairwoman of the First Iberian Meeting on Separation Sciences and Mass Spectrometry (2019).
Technology transfer: 3 patents, two national and one international. Founding and strategical partner of the technology-based company "i-Grape Laboratory" for the recovery and exploitation of winemaking waste and other natural byproducts, created on the basis of the First Prize of the ARGOS Project (University Entrepreneurship Program of the USC) that our group won in its 1st Edition (2013). ANEP evaluator and reviewer in reference scientific journals related to my lines of research. Evaluator of the H2020 in the FET program (Future and Emerging Technologies) and evaluator of national projects in other European
and Latin American countries.
