个人简介
Dr. Shah's clinical and academic focus lies in the care of patients with cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastrointestinal malignancies are among the most common cancers in the United States and around the globe. Patients with cancers of the GI tract often require expertise across a broad range of disciplines. We are committed to providing personalized and coordinated care in an effort to maximize patient outcomes while minimizing potential side effects of therapy. Advancing the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies is central to the mission of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and the Center for Advanced Digestive Care. Additionally, by improving our understanding of the biology of these diseases, including genetic and environmental risks, the role of inflammation and the tumor microenvironment in the development and progression of disease, we hope to improve our ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat these complex diseases.
Dr. Shah graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1991 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering, and from Harvard Medical School/MIT Health Sciences and Technology program in 1996, graduating magna cum laude, with a Medical Doctorate degree. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at Duke University Medical Center in 1999, and his Medical Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 2001, also serving as Chief Oncology Fellow. He is the recipient of several awards including the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator and Career Development Awards. He was recruited from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to Direct the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and the Center for Advanced Digestive Care at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
