Bio
Virginia Mamone received the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
Since 2017, she has been with the EndoCAS Center for Computer Assisted Surgery, University of Pisa. Since 2021, she has been the Principal Investigator of the project “POLARS-HMP” founded by the Italian Ministry of Health. Her research interests include computer-assisted surgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and augmented reality as an immersive visualization method to facilitate and improve treatment quality. In her research work, she has applied machine vision methods and image processing techniques to support heart surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and wound-healing assessment.
