Bio
Mahmoodul Haq received the B.Eng. degree from the University of Madras, Chennai, India, in 2002, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in structural engineering and mechanics of materials from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Michigan State University (MSU), East Lansing, MI, USA, in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
He is an Associate Professor at the Department of CEE, MSU. He leads the group on “tailorable materials and multimaterial assemblies,” at the Composite Vehicle Research Center (CVRC), MSU. He also holds an Adjunct Professor Positions at the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Material Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, MSU. He has research grants exceeding US $10 Million, holds five patents, and has more than 40 peer reviewed articles, more than 200 conference papers, and more than 25 invited talks on aforementioned research topics. His research since 2009 includes funding from the U.S. Army Tank Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC, formerly TARDEC), the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Office of Naval Research (ONR), the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and the American Chemistry Council (ACC). His research interests include multimaterial joining, nondestructive evaluation (NDE), multiscale-reinforced hybrid/tailorable composites, and computational simulation of materials and structures.
Dr. Haq received the Governor’s Gold Medal for the top place among 2000 students from the University of Madras.
