Innovative Researcher, Educator, and Engineering Visionary
Dr. Maheshwar Shrestha is a distinguished researcher and educator in the field of electrical engineering, renowned for his exceptional contributions to materials science, plasma technology, and sustainable solutions. With an illustrious academic background and a track record of groundbreaking achievements, he has left an indelible mark on the realms of energy, nanotechnology, and academic leadership. Maheshwar embarked on his journey into the world of engineering at Pokhara University, Nepal, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics & Communication Engineering with honors, in 2004. His insatiable curiosity and dedication led him to South Dakota State University (SDSU), USA, where he earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering in 2012, followed by a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in the same field in 2015, under the guidance of Dr. David W. Dr. Shrestha's career took off with pioneering research at SDSU, where he focused on structural, optical, and electrical characterization of materials for low-cost photovoltaic devices. Notably, he developed atmospheric plasma actuators and novel single-beam ion sources for in-situ crystallization of thin films. His innovative thinking extended to utilizing activated biochar for the removal of PFAS contaminants, showcasing his commitment to sustainable solutions.
