个人简介
Maesoon Im (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with the Brain Science Institute, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Seoul, South Korea. He is also an Associate Professor with the Bio-Medical Science & Technology Division, University of Science & Technology, Seoul. Before joining KIST from 2015 to 2018, he was running his lab with Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, MI, USA, as an Assistant Scientist with the Department of Ophthalmology. He was also an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Wayne State University Detroit. As an Electrical Engineer by training with enthusiasm on neuroscience applications, he studied retinal prosthetics and visual neuroscience as a Research Fellow with the Department of Neurosurgery, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA, from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that from 2010 to 2011, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. At the University of Michigan and also at KAIST, he fabricated various micro-/nano-devices for neuroscientific and biological applications. With the unique combination of expertise in both retinal neurophysiology and microfabrication, his lab with the Brain Science Institute of KIST aims to develop innovative retinal implants to restore high-quality artificial vision to blind individuals suffering from retinal degenerative diseases.
