个人简介
Prof. Maarit Karppinen received her doctor degree in inorganic chemistry from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1993. After that she built a strong research group focusing on functional oxide materials for emerging energy technologies at the Materials and Structures Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. In 2006 she returned back to Finland to combine her expertise in functional oxide material research to the ALD thin-film technology experience accumulated in her present Inorganic Materials Chemistry Laboratory at Aalto University in Finland. Prof. Karppinen is internationally renowned for her pioneering research for the next-generation sustainable energy and nanoelectronics technologies, in particularly related to functional inorganic-organic materials and the ALD/MLD thin-film technology; for this field she received ERC Advanced Grant in 2013, followed by two ERC Proof-of-Concept Grants (flexible thermoelectric oxide-organic superlattices 2015; Li-organic microbattery 2017). Her group’s work is truly interdisciplinary and comprises of new materials design and synthesis with state-of-the-art functional property characterization. She has published more than 400 peer-reviewed journal articles cited more than 8000 times. She acted as Academy Professor in Finland for 2009-2013, and was appointed as Visiting International Professor (VIP) at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, in 2016, and Aalto Distinguished Professor in 2017.
