个人简介
Mohammed Shokr (Life Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in aeronautical engineering from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1980.
In 1989, he started his research career on sea ice physics and remote sensing in Environment Canada, Toronto, ON, Canada, to support the National Operational Sea Ice Monitoring Program in Canada. He participated in several field expeditions to study sea ice and snow physical and radiometric properties in relation to remote sensing observations at different sites in the Arctic. He developed algorithms to retrieve sea ice concentration and thickness from microwave remote sensing data. Since 2016, he has been serving as a visiting scientist in three Chinese universities where he has been teaching graduate courses on sea ice physics and remote sensing and cosupervised research in the same fields. He has coauthored a book titled Sea Ice Physics and Remote Sensing: the second edition was published in 2023. His research interests include the impacts of global warming on polar ice.
