Bio
By her education in Earth Sciences (University of Bordeaux) then in mechanics (Ecole centrale of Paris), Mariane Peter-Borie developed skills and knowledge in various disciplines (geology, hydrogeology, mechanics, thermo-mechanics, numerical modeling...) useful for the application of geology to various problems concerning underground. During her thesis (University Bordeaux 1 and BRGM, Ph.D. in Georessources and Environment achieved in 2008), she applied her skills to tackle the issue of rock weathering and linked landslides. Then she joined the geothermal energy team at the BRGM in 2009 with the aim of studying the geothermal systems and reservoir from the regional scale to the rock-grain scale. She was also involved in O&G and CO2 storage projects. Her professional background shows her ability to handle varied subjects and fields based on knowledge and understanding of geological environments. It allowed her to develop a modern approach to applied geology based on complementarity between geological knowledge of environments at several scales, system understanding, and modeling. She has been project manager of national and international multidisciplinary projects focussing on geothermal energy since 2015 (2015-2020: ANR-Géodénergies-REFLET, 2015-2020: H2020 DEEPEGS) and she led work-packages integrating several partners and several disciplinaries. Her integrative multidisciplinary approach helps her in leading projects that require the tight and comprehensive integration of several fields.
