Bio
Mohammad-Reza Nezhad-Ahmadi (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engi- neering from the Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 1998, the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2010.
From 1999 to 2003, he was a Design Engineer with Unistar-Micro Technology, Tehran, where he was involved in the design of a full CMOS RF chip for Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and a Bipolar Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (BiCMOS) wireless local area network (WLAN) chipset. From 2003 to 2005, he was a Senior RF Design Engineer with Ameri-Tech Company, Tehran, where he was involved in the design and development of integrated digital microwave radio systems. From 2006 to 2016, he was a Senior Principal RF/Analog IC and a System Engineer with ON Semiconductor, Burlington, ON, Canada, where he was involved in various ultralow-power CMOS RFICs and architectures for wireless medical applications. From 2012 to 2016, he was a Visiting Research Scientist with the University of Waterloo. From 2016 to 2023, he was a Research Assistant Professor with the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department, University of Waterloo, leading the research and development of intelligent millimeter-wave multichannel beamformer monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and millimeter-wave radar technologies. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor and a Principal Investigator with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Waterloo, leading the research in integrated multibeam sub-millimeter wave/sub-terahertz (THz) system on chip/in-package for emerging wireless (6G) and sensing/imaging applications as well as high-efficiency millimeter-wave beamforming integrated circuit and beamforming and electronic scanning antenna research for the next-generation satellite and space communication systems. He is also the Founder and the Chief Executive Officer of mmSense Technologies Inc., Waterloo, leading the advancement and commercialization of high-resolution millimeter-wave radar sensing and imaging technologies. His research interests include sub-terahertz (THz) beamforming antennas, and systems in package and onchip, intelligent silicon-based millimeter-wave phased-array integrated circuits, antennas and systems, millimeter-wave radar sensing and imaging, miniaturized on-chip antennas, and ultralow-power radios, systems, and biosensors for biomedical applications.
