Bio
My research trajectory has aimed at studying materials that improve their functional properties when acquire a nanoscale size. To achieve that purpose, I have met the increasing need to explore and develop novel high resolution imaging techniques that operate at the nanoscale and are minimally perturbative and stable. Particularly, I have focused in the developing of non-destructive dynamic modes in Atomic Force Microscopy operated in liquid environments and non-contact Photo-Assisted Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy.
During the last years my main research lines have been related to:
• Electrostatic Force Microscopy and Photo-Assisted Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy for studying solar materials, with application in Photocatalysis and Photovoltaics.
• Atomic Force Microscopy in physiological media to investigate the properties of nano-hybrid materials used in DNA biosensors, immunotheraphy nanobiomaterials and biocell surfaces.
• The study of the role of water as mediator in the nanocale interaction forces: nanocapillarity and dissipative processes.
