Lal Mamud is a PhD student in the department of Geology and Geological Engineering (G&GE) at the University of Mississippi. He received his Bachelor degree in Geology and Master’s degree in Geophysics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He did thesis on “Subsurface Structure Delineation and Prospect Re-evaluation of Fenchuganj Gas Field by Integrating Seismic and Wireline Log Data”.
He joined the G&GE department, in the Fall semester of 2016 as a Master`s student in Hydrology under supervision of Dr. Robert M. Holt. He completed a thesis on “Generalized Radial Transport Model for Interpreting Convergent Flow Tracer Tests in Fractured Rock” and has worked on developing a mathematical model for n-dimensional flow and transport and interpretation of tracer test data collected at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, New Mexico.
Lal started his PhD program in the G&GE department in the Fall semester, 2018 under supervision of Dr. Robert M. Holt and Dr. Craig J. Hickey. He has a Graduate Research Assistantship at the National Center for Physical Acoustic (NCPA) and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the G&GE department since starting his PhD program. His PhD research is on hydrogeophysics focusing on the application of self-potential (SP) geophysical technique to hydrogeological problems. He has been working on building a SP data acquisition system, groundwater flow modeling, lab and field scale pumping and injection test coupled with SP measurements. The goal is to use SP measurements for hydrological parameters estimation and modeling of aquifers.
