Bio
Matthias Kroug received the diploma degree in physics from Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, Germany, in 1995, and the Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2001.
From 2002 to 2005, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands, where he worked on several heterodyne receiver projects, fabricating and testing SIS mixers for the JCMT Telescope (HARP-B), and ALMA Band 9 and Bands 3/4 of the Herschel Space Observatory. In 2006, he joined the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, Mitaka, Japan, to contribute to the development of ALMA Band 10 receivers. His research focuses on the design and fabrication of superconducting detectors for radio astronomy and he is currently involved in advanced technology studies aimed at increasing the RF and IF bandwidths of low-noise receivers.
