个人简介
Mor Kanari is a marine geologist with solid background and experience in geophysics, neo-tectonics and paleoseismology. He has been planning and conducting marine geophysics and geological surveys since 2010 in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Dead Sea and Sea of Galilee. BSc in Geophysics and Geography (Cum laude); MSc in Geophysics (Magna cum laude); PhD in Geophysics awarded 2016 (Department of Geophysics, Tel Aviv University, Israel). Since 2016 he is working as a researcher in the department of Marine Geology and Geophysics in the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR).
Mor Specializes in marine seismic data acquisition, multibeam data acquisition and analysis, and Geo-Informatics (GIS based mapping, advanced analysis and database management). He was Co-Editor of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) survey conducted in 2015 and on-going updated for the Ministry of Energy – habitat mapping in the Israeli EEZ and assessing their sensitivity to Oil and Gas exploration; this resulted in the preparation of the first habitat map of the Israeli EEZ. He took part in data acquisition in the 6-week multibeam survey of the deep basin (1400-2100 m) of the Israeli EEZ in 2016, participated in its data processing and is a co-author in compilation of the full multibeam coverage of the Israeli EEZ bathymetric map published in 2017, and is first author of the paper describing its results (Kanari et al., 2020). Participated in the 2013 seafloor sampling effort for the background survey of the Israeli EEZ on-board R/V Shikmona. He is Co-PI and participates in all multibeam data collection in the national monitoring program in bathymetry and sedimentology: sediment transport systems in the deep basin; dynamics of sand resources in the Israeli coast; integration of sedimentological data and ROV dive results into characterization and mapping of hard-substrate (rocky) habitats.
Other fields of interest include quantitative analysis of seafloor geomorphology; Developing GIS based environmental and training-zone control system for the Israeli Navy; PI in Israeli-Italian research on active fault indicators for earthquake potential estimation.
Key Qualifications/Words: marine geophysics; marine geology; seismic reflection ; habitat mapping; seafloor mapping; seafloor morphology; sedimentology; paleoseismology; GIS analysis; GIS database management;
