Bio
Michael I. Zimmerman is a Senior Staff Member at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He completed a NASA Postdoctoral Fellowship at Goddard Space Flight Center (2013), after having earned both Ph.D. and M. S. in Physics from West Virginia University (2010/2008), and the B.S. in Computer Science/Physics from Frostburg State University in Western MD (2002). He applies computational methods to study fluid-debris interactions in dust devils and tornadoes, as well as solar wind plasma interaction with airless solar system bodies, and he frequently contributes to team-based scientific software development efforts at APL.
