Bio
I started my research carrier during my first years at the Alacant University, when I got involved in different projects, and achieved several grants that allowed me to get a practical and theorical training in the marine field (fisheries), for example sampling on board of different oceanographic vessels. After that, my expertise arrived with a competitive Predoctoral JAE grant of the Spanish National Research Institute in which I studied simbionts in mesozooplankton related with oceanographic events. This allowed me to discover new parasitic species infecting krill, such as Bolbosoma balaenae infecting Nyctiphanes couchii in the NE of Atlantic Ocean, which was published in 2012. This work allowed us to complete and propose the life cycle of this acanthocephalan species. Other important discovery was the acanthocephalan Rhadinorhynchus infecting krill, which was published in 2013. Moreover, other important and dangerous parasitic worm (Anisakis pegreffii) was found for the first time infecting N. Couchii as reflected in the publication of 2015. Aditionally, a new epibiont, Pelagacineta hebensis was located in the new basibiont: Paraeuchaeta hebes, also published in 2015. A new complete compilation of simbionts was finished in 2014 as a Doctoral Thesis. In addition to that, some genomic sequences were also deposited at different database for the first time, contributing to increase our knowledge about parasitic larvae phases. All this research was related with the oceanography in the sampling area of study. Moreover, not only morphological characters were studied, all this extensive work allowed me to learn about genomic, phylogeny, oceanography and ecological parasitology.
My CV is characterized by being dynamic as well as complete, in which the great ability to adapt to any field of study within the marine sciences could be observed. My university career introduced me to the management and conservation of marine natural resources (fisheries and aquaculture, marine reserves, etc.) thanks to which I was able to direct a perliculture project in Ecuador, where in addition to increasing my experience in that field has provided prizes, new publications and personal satisfactions. My professional experience as a teacher-researcher was developed during 8 semesters (2015-2019) at an Ecuadorian university adding approximately 1472h/class of various subjects that helped me in the development of the aforementioned project, reaching a new degree of specialization.
I have also been quite active in the field of paleontology, with fieldwork performed in several vertebrate sites of the Miocene of the Iberian Peninsula, and lately in Ecuador. As a result of the latter, I have several collaborations in scientific papers published in good impact factor journals.
