Bio
I studied theoretical physics at the university of Florence, discussing a final thesis on physical and mathematical models for geothermal reservoirs. I used instruments such as differential equations and analysis for inverting data from a geothermal reservoir under the mount Amiata, Tuscany.
After that, in my PhD I studied one and three-dimensional models for volcanic ash plumes. Here the objective is the understanding of the non-linear dynamics of dispersed compressible multiphase turbulence, to produce instruments to better measure observables and to forecast ash dispersion and fallout.
The new three-dimensional model has been discretized using the C++ libraries of OpenFOAM®, in order to numerically simulate the dynamics with the finite volume approach on structured/unstructured grids.
