Academic Focus:
Molecular study of monogenic diseases presenting at the pediatric stage, which include inborn errors of metabolism and a genomic approach to congenital malformations. In collaboration with the National Institute of Perinatology, implemented and published in 1997 the first experience in Mexico of a molecular prenatal diagnosis for a monogenic entity.
At the private practice level, he is responsible for the Molecular Diagnosis Area of the Center for High Specialty in Human Genetics DNA-GEN SC (http://www.dnagen.com.mx/) with experience of almost 20 years in the implementation and carry-out of tests focused mainly on the molecular diagnosis of monogenic diseases (neuromuscular disorders, hereditary coagulopathies, neurodevelopmental delay, innate errors of metabolism, etc.) applied to ~15,000 patients attended in various rehabilitation centers and hospitals in Mexico and Latin-American countries. Also, collaborate with some private laboratories focused on newborn screening (https://tamizmas.com/) and pharmaceutical companies focused on the development of orphan drugs (Sanofi-Genzyme México, BioMarin, Actelion, Biotoscana, Roche, PTC Therapeutics).
