Licenciado e Doutorado em Engenheira Eletrotecnica e de Computadores pela Universidade do Porto, é docente da Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa desde 1997. Investigador do INESC entre 1993 e 2014. Fundador em 2004 e vice-diretor do CITAR entre 2004 e 2011. Investigador integrado no CITAR desde 2004. Coordenador do Centro de Criatividade Digital entre 2015 e 2018. Coordenador do Mestrado em Gestão de Indústrias Criativas desde 2014. Vogal da Direção da Escola das Artes desde 2017.
Desenvolve investigação na área de produção em audiovisual imersiva e interativa, industrias criativas, codificação criativa e processamento digital de sinais. Nos últimos anos tem participado e coordenado equipas de investigação em projetos como PINFRA/22133/2016 “Digital Creativity Center”, POCI-01-0247-FEDER-024498 CHIC – Cooperative Holistic view on Internet and Content, NORTE-07-0124-FEDER-000061 “Media, Arts & Technologies”, EXPL/MHC-PCL/1011/2013 “MIPA-MOBILE Monitoring psychotherapy with adolescents using mobile applications”, EU Lifelong Learning Programme Intensive Program 2011-1-IT2-ERA10-27052, "Art of Sound, Sound of Art", Lifelong Learning Programme Leonardo da Vinci “Creative Energy Educational Exchange Project (CEEEP)”. Foi delegado nacional nas Ações COST - COST ISCH Action IS1004 Webdatanet, Cost Action on Sonic Interaction Design, COST Action 287 - Gesture Controlled Audio Systems.

Luis Teixeira is an assistant professor at the School of Arts of the Catholic University of Portugal since 2017. He holds a graduate and PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto. He was a researcher at INESC between 1993 and 2014 and founded CITAR in 2004, where he served as the deputy director from 2004 to 2011 and is now an Integrated Researcher. Additionally, he was the Coordinator of the Digital Creativity Centre from 2015 to 2018 and the Coordinator of the Master’s in Management of Creative Industries since 2014. He has been a member of the Board of the School of Arts since 2017.
His expertise lies in audio-visual and immersive and interactive media production, creative industries, creative coding, and digital signal processing.
