His research explores sustainable energy transformation pathways towards climate neutrality on the global, regional and national level. He was a lead author of the 2013 and 2018 UNEP Emissions Gap Reports and a contributing author to the Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports, as well as the Special Reports on Renewable Energy Sources and on Warming of 1.5°C of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Gunnar Luderer has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has regularly been recognized as one of the World's most Highly Cited Researchers by the Web of Science Group since 2019.
