个人简介
Luca Dal Zilio is Senior Researcher in Computational Earthquake Physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. Luca holds a BSc. and MSc. in Geophysics from the University of Padova (Italy), and a Ph.D. in Computational Fluid Dynamics from ETH Zurich, where he studied plate boundary deformation and earthquake source processes across different timescales. During his postdoc at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), he worked with Prof. Nadia Lapusta and Prof. Jean-Philippe Avouac on the development of physics-based methods to simulate earthquake cycles and slow- slip events by coupling solid-fluid interactions and complex visco-elasto-plastic rheology. His current research is focused on computational mechanics of geomaterials, earthquake source processes, fundamentals of friction and fracture, and solid-fluid interactions. His approach is often mathematical and computational, and he collaborates closely with experimentalists and field scientists. Luca’s work is applied to a wide range of geoscience problems, including earthquake physics, geothermal exploration, carbon sequestration, and hydrology.
