Career Trajectory
Bio
Lu Ding received the B.Eng. degree in microelectronics from Jilin
University, Changchun, Jilin, China, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from The Hong Kong University of Science
and Technology, Hong Kong, China, in 2007.
The Ph.D. work covered a broad range of subjects on semiconductor optical spectroscopy mainly on ZnO crystalline and
nanostructures in the visible spectral range. From 2008 to 2010, she was a Postdoctral Fellow in the Laboratoire
Matériaux et Phénomènes Quantiques, Paris 7 University, Paris, France. She explored various
terahertz detection techniques and studied the property of the long wavelength tail of the broad electromagnetic
spectrum. Then, she focused on investigating the light–matter interactions in the near infrared spectral range
via a microdisk based optomechanical platform. In 2011, she joined the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering
(IMRE), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A∗STAR), Singapore, where she is engaged in research on
plasmonics and metamaterials to manipulate light and light–matter interaction in the terahertz range.
