个人简介
I am an analytical geochemist interested in using classic petrology methods (XRF, XRD, light- and CL-microscopy), Raman spectroscopy, and EMPA studies combined with stable isotope (oxygen and carbon) analyses with more advanced clumped isotope and radiocarbon age dating to study the global carbon cycle. I trained as a petrologist/geoscientist during my undergraduate education at the University of Bremen and recently finished my postgraduate education at the ETH Zurich. During my doctoral studies, I worked on two interdisciplinary research projects cooperating with the International Ocean Discovery Program (Expedition 357) and joined the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (Oman Drilling Project). The main focus of my research was to unravel the origin, distribution, and cycling of carbon during active serpentinization, understand the transport mechanisms of carbon-rich fluids and evaluate ultramafic rocks as a means to sequester CO2 from the atmosphere and permanently store it within thermodynamically stable carbonate minerals.
Before starting my PhD in Zurich, I spend a couple of months at different institutes, including the NGU in Trondheim (Mineral Research Group, performing SEM and XRD analyses), the Nanjing University (School of Geography and Oceanology, performing XRF measurements and analyses of sediment core parameters such as water and carbon content), and the University of Melbourne (Geomicrobiology Research Group, using SEM, FIB, and TEM).
