Lorena Hofbauer

I am interested in how genes are regulated, in particular at the first step of gene expression – transcription. As graduate student in the Stark lab, I investigate the intricate networks of cis-regulatory DNA elements and transcription factors that determine which genes are expressed or silenced in different cell types with important implications for animal development. My approaches include sequencing based high-throughput assays, as well as in vivo experiments in cell lines and flies.
