Bio
Chu Kiong Loo (SM’14) received the B.Eng. (First Class Hons.) degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Ph.D. degree in AI and robotics from University Sains Malaysia, George Town, Malaysia.
He was a Design Engineer in various Industrial firms in different capacities. He is the Former Chairman of the Centre for Robotics and Automation, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia. He is currently a Full Professor with the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya. He is an Expert in Cognitive Robotics. He has over 150 articles published in various referred journals and refereed conferences. His current research interests include quantum inspired soft-computing, cognitive robotics, human–robot interaction, and deep learning.
Dr. Loo was the Vice Chairman of the IEEE SMC Society, Malaysia Chapter, principally as one of the Founders of SMC Research Network in Malaysia. In 2014, he was also the Founder and the Vice Chairman of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Malaysia Chapter. In 2014, he was the First President of the Asia–Pacific of Neural Network Assembly Network, where He has been the President since 2014.
