Bio
My scientific career has focused mainly in nanostructured magnetic materials and largely in transition metal oxides. The research has led to the development of new experimental systems, the growth of nanoparticulate materials, thin films and heterostructures and its magnetic, electrical and microstructural characterization. I also have been working on nanofabrication processes dedicated to the development of devices both with technological interest and for a basic research on materials.
Scientific studies have mainly focused on basic science and among other things I have dedicated myself to the study of dynamic processes such as magnetization reversal by thermal relaxation or tunneling, study of magnetic interactions between nanostructures and in core-shell structures. Applications of nanoparticles in magnetic systems (magneto-resistance), biomedicine (NMR, hyperthermia) and environment (arsenic removal in the water), but much of my research has focused on the study of complex oxides for spin electronics, this work starts in granular systems but in the last 15 years it has been focused in the study of the properties of interfaces and the correlation with the microstructure and the development of new devices on thin films and heterosetructures.
On the other hand, I have also tried to bring some of the work done into the field of technological applications, as reflected in various patents filed.
My latest works are devoted to the study of new insulating ferromagnetic materials, controlling the degree of tension on thin layers and their effect on the electronic, magnetic and structural properties. Thin films with high spin orbit and nanostructures surface. I am also studying effects of interfaces in heterostructures and their applications in Tunnel Magnetoresistance, Spin Injection, Resistive Switching.
