Bio
Prior to joining SUSTech, he has worked at the University of New South Wales and University of Sydney, Australia, University of Cambridge, UK, National Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, MITI, Japan, and Zhejiang University, China. Zhang carries out research on both the fundamentals and industrial applications in the cross-disciplinary field of advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, tribology, nanotechnology, solid mechanics, precision optics manufacturing, bio-mechanics and bio-manufacturing. He has published extensively in his research areas and his research outcomes are well received by peers. His technologies have led to significant economic benefits for manufacturing industry. Zhang has been granted many awards and honours, and has served as editor-in-chief and member of editorial boards of many international journals and technical book series, such as International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, and Springer and Elsevier Book Series in Precision Manufacturing, Surface Engineering and Tribology.
