Career Trajectory
Bio
Wei Li obtained his Ph.D. degree in materials science from the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Institute of Chemistry, CAS) in 2012. Dr. Li had worked on nanostructured materials for gas sensing, lithium-ion batteries, heterogeneous organic catalysis, and water treatment for his Ph.D. thesis. He joined Professor Rachel Caruso’s group in both the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and The University of Melbourne in Australia as a postdoctoral fellow in 2012. He managed a project of Nano-composite Materials for Removing Heavy Metal Ions in Drinking Water, which is an internationally collaborative project between CSIRO and CAS. In 2015, Wei Li joined the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory as a Marie-Curie COFUND Research Fellow. In 2017-2018, Dr. Wei Li had worked at Utah State University as a postdoctoral fellow. Since March 2018, Dr. Li has worked at West Virginia University as a materials scientist. He has been working on nanomaterials for electrochemical energy storage (lithium/sodium/zinc ion batteries, electrocatalytic water splitting and electrolysis for hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction, proton exchange membrane and anion exchange membrane fuel cells for hydrogen oxidation reaction and oxygen reduction reaction and supercapacitors) and solar energy harvesting (photocatalysis and solar thermochemical water splitting), water treatment and room-temperature gas sensors.
Wei Li has published 78 peer-reviewed papers in major high-impact journals, which have been cited for more than 6900 times, leading to an h-index of 47 (https://scholar.google.pt/citations?hl=en&btnA=1&user=ic5lqQkAAAAJ). He has also published 2 Chinese patents, filed 1 European and USA patent and delivered 10 oral presentations in international conferences. Wei Li has actively served as an editor for Journal of Energy and Power Engineering and also as an invited reviewer and adjudicative reviewer for over 60 journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Joule, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Materials Horizons, Small, Chemical Communications, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Power Sources, ChemSusChem, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Langmuir, Catalysis Science & Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Catalysis Today, Nanoscale, New Journal of Chemistry, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, Dalton Transactions, CrystEngComm, RSC Advances, ChemPlusChem, Zeitschrift fur Anorganische und Allgemeine Chemie, etc.
