Dr. Iasemidis (http://www2.latech.edu/~leonidas/; BS in EE from NTUA, Greece; MS in Physics, MS and PhD in BME from UofM, Ann Arbor) is Professor and Head of the Brain Dynamics Laboratory in the Departments of Translational Neurosciences and Neurology at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ (2021-present) and Professor Emeritus at the Arizona State University (2012-present). He was the Rhodes Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor of BME at the Louisiana Tech University, the Founder of the Brain Dynamics Lab (http://www.braindynamics.latech.edu), the Director of the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Science (http://coes.latech.edu/cbers) at Louisiana Tech University (2012-2021). He held an adjunct professorship in Neurology at Mayo Clinic Arizona (2009-2012), professorships in Neurology (2013) at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Shreveport, LA (2013-2021), and Neurosurgery (2015-2021) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR.
Dr. Iasemidis’ research interests are in the areas of biomedical signal processing, complex systems theory and nonlinear dynamics, neurophysiology, monitoring and analysis of the electrical and magnetic activity of the brain in epilepsy and other brain dynamical disorders, and recently organomics. He is internationally recognized as one of the founders of the field of seizure prediction with more than 150 peer-reviewed publications.
Prof. Iasemidis is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers (AIMBE), a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
