Dr. Hilakivi-Clarke's research interests include understanding the importance of timing of exposure to estrogens, phytoestrogens, and other dietary/nutrition components on the programming of mammary gland development and its effects on breast cancer susceptibility. She also is active in exploring gene-nutrient interactions and their role in affecting breast cancer risk and progression.
