Bio
Leanete Thomas Dotta completed her PhD at PUC/SP (2010), in Brazil. In 2015, she obtained a PhD equivalence in Educational Sciences from the FPCEUP. During her scientific career, she carried out two postdoctoral research at the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) of the FPCEUP. The first (2014-2016) was funded by CAPES and the second (2016-2018) by the Foundation for Science and Technology - FCT. She is currently a research assistant at the Universidade Lusófona. She is an integrated member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development-CeiED and one of the coordinators of the Research and Learning Communities ReLeCo "Training, Professionalism and Teachers Identities". She is also a collaborating member of CIIE-FPCEUP and the research practice community IdeaFor-Identities, Democracy, School, Administration and Training. She recently coordinated the project Cooperation for Quality Development: a Continuous Training Programme for Teachers in the Municipality of Kuito-Bié (2021-2022), funded by the Camões Institute. She is currently CO-PI of the project Fifty Years of Teaching: Factors of Change and Intergenerational Dialogues - FYT-ID (PTDC / CED-EDG / 1039/2021). In recent years she has supervised Master's theses on: Social Image of Teachers in the United Republic of Tanzania; Trainers' Perspectives on Teaching Knowledge in the Initial Training of Mathematics Teachers; Experiences of Teachers from Different Educational Levels in the First Years of Work; Perspectives of the Teaching Profession: The voice of teachers with less and more than 20 years of experience; Social projects - a theme of transversal knowledge as a means of promoting critical social reflection and citizenship; and supervised postdoctoral research: Who Wants to Be a Teacher? Narratives of Pedagogy and Degree in Basic Education students about schooling and assessment pathways. She is currently supervising two doctoral theses: "From Primary Education to the 1st Cycle of Basic Education: an exploratory narrative study on the changes of the last 50 years" and "Professional Identities of Teachers/Trainers in Vocational Education" and two Master's theses: "The Digital as Mediator of Emotional Development: Importance and Perspectives in the Classroom Context"; "The Construction of Teachers' Digital Identity". In line with her research career, Thomas Dotta has dedicated herself to teaching activities in the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Programmes in Educational Sciences at the FPCEUP: Structures and Dynamics of Research Work - Focus Group (Doctoral Programme); Questions of Identity in Contemporary Societies (Master's Degree); Curriculum Theory and Development, SIMF: Introduction to Professionalisation in Education and SIMF: External Contact Unit (Bachelor's Degree). She is currently teaching the following courses at the University of Lusófona: Innovation and Technology in Physical Education (Master in Physical Education in Primary and Secondary Education) and Educational Territorialisation (Master in Educational Administration and Regulation of Education). Although the teaching dimension of his work is currently limited to higher education and postgraduate education, Thomas Dotta's professional teaching career began in primary and secondary education, levels of learning to which he remains linked through his research on teacher education, teachers' professional identities and ageing teachers. He also works as an expert for the General Inspection of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education in the external evaluation processes of schools at these levels. In the context of the relationship between teaching/training and research, with reference to methodological issues, she has developed training actions on the use of the Nvivo software and has given support and individual guidance on the same software to MA and PhD students in Education. Thomas Dotta has published numerous books, chapters in books and articles with national and international circulation.
