Bio
My own research aims at understanding mechanisms of bone loss during spaceflight, immobilization, inactivity in human and rodent models, and its reversibility. The effects of physical training strategies applicable to frail subjects are studied. The multiple interferences between bone cells and their microenvironment (extracellular matrix components, growth factors, bone vascularization) are also explored. In vitro 3D models of bone remodeling, mimicking key aspects of the bone cell environment, are also developed, using calcium phosphate ceramics optimized for osteogenesis.
