Bio
Lars Leden is since 1983 a senior scientist at VTT, Finland. Since 1997 he is an Adjunct Professor at Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden. He received his Ph.D.-degree from Lund Institute of Technology, Lund, Sweden. His research interest is focused on designing and evaluating facilities with emphasis on traffic safety and mobility for children and elderly as pedestrians and bicyclists.
Examples of his research experience include:
• Developing of estimation tools on effects of countermeasures for vulnerable road users (1991-1992) at University of Toronto working with prof. Ezra Hauer
• Post-doc studies within the European Network of Excellence HUMANIST 2006-2008 on the subject ITS and unprotected road users – challenges and potentials
• Developing a framework for assessing Pedestrian Quality Needs within COST 358
• A sustainable city environment through child safety and mobility
• Acceptability of rider assistive systems for powered two-wheelers.
