Dr. Young’s research focuses on the evolution and neural circuit mechanisms underlying social relationships, and the translation of those mechanisms into treatments to improve social function in psychiatric disorders such as autism. His work has identified a roles for oxytocin and vasopressin in mediating social bonding and empathy in prairie voles.
