个人简介
Laila Rahman is a postdoctoral researcher at the Western Centre on Climate Change, Sustainable Livelihoods and Health (WeCLISH), London, Ontario.
She is located at the intersections of learning, teaching, and researching to improve the health and well-being of marginalized populations in Canada and the Global South. Using an intersectional lens, her current research areas include climate change, gender, livelihoods, intimate partner and workplace violence, and LGBTQ+ health. She is also keen to study maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, and adolescent health. Her methodological expertise includes quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and participatory approaches to research.
Laila's teaching practices couple learning with researching, focusing on building students' appreciation for knowledge creation and sharing through writing and publications. As an avid peer-reviewer of 10 journals, she enjoys reading publications-in-the-making and working with authors to enhance the accessibility and transparency of their research.
Before joining WeCLISH, Laila completed doctoral research at the University of Toronto and postdoctoral research at the Health Equity in Epidemiological Research Group (HEER) Lab in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. Additionally, she has a decade-long research experience, conducting exploratory, quasi-experimental and community cluster randomized controlled trials at Population Council, Bangladesh.
