个人简介
I am a soil ecologist specialized in fungi and their interaction with plant communities. From an initial interest in processes that drive vegetation structure and distribution, I have turned the lens towards the assembly rules that govern microbial communities and the ecosystem functions that they provide to plants.
During my PhD thesis, in the Experimental Station of Zaidín (CSIC, Granada) under the supervision of Prof. J. M. Barea and Prof. C. Azcón-Aguilar, I had the opportunity to study particular aspects on the ecology of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, particularly the potential of plant traits to drive their community composition. During my first years as postdoctoral researcher I focused on the duality of stochastic and deterministic processes to shape microbial communities and, in a more applied aspect, on how fungal traits mediate the response of their communities to environmental change (specially soil pollution) and affect the functioning of the system at the same time.
In the last years I have focused on microbial community organization present in agricultural systems, establishing several collaborations to study olive trees, vineyards or coffee.
