Bio
My area of expertise lies at the intersection between the physics of superconductors and of topological materials. The common denominator of topological materials is the presence of a surface state, whose nature is determined by the bulk band structure via a holographic correspondence. The Josephson effect gives access to a quantum macroscopic degree of freedom and constitutes the building block of a quantum device. Majorana bound states, which follow the laws of anyon statistics, are crucial to enable topological quantum computing, based on a braiding algorithm. They have been predicted to occur as gapless boundary states of a topological superconductor. The main challenge in the field of topological and quantum materials is to combine material expertise with condensed matter physics.
